Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine: 10 Fighters Given Medical Suspensions

Luke Rockhold vs. Keith Jardine (Esther Lin, Strikeforce)

Middleweight champ Rockhold could be out six months

Ten fighters from Saturday’s Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine card have been issued medical suspensions following their fights. The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday released the results from Saturday’s card in Las Vegas to HeavyMMA.

Six-month potential suspensions were given to four fighters, including middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. Rockhold defeated Keith Jardine in the main event with a first-round TKO. But a potential injury to his right hand caused the commission to issue him a six-month suspension, though he can return as soon as his hand is cleared by a doctor. Jardine is shut down two months because of a particularly rough TKO.

Other fighters with potential six-months shutdowns are Tarec Saffiedine, who will need an MRI or x-ray of his left elbow and clearance from a doctor, or he’ll be out until July 6; his opponent, Tyler Stinson, must have his left thumb and right knee cleared, or he’ll be shut down for six months. And preliminary card fighter James Terry will need both of his shoulders cleared or he’ll be out until July 6.
