Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine Draws 1,992 Fans

Jan. 7 card has gate of $68,805

The attendance and gate figures are in for Strikeforce’s first card of 2012.

Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine, which took place Jan. 7 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, hit for an attendance of 1,992 with a live gate of $68,805. The figures were reported Wednesday to HeavyMMA by Keith Kizer, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Though the official attendance was 1,992, that figure includes 1,065 complimentary tickets issued by the promotion and venue. The paid attendance for the card was 927 for a total average price per ticket (not including the comps) of $74.22.

The card was Strikeforce’s first at the Hard Rock. The preliminary card aired live on Showtime Extreme. The main card followed with a live broadcast on Showtime as part of the premium cable channel’s free preview weekend.

The main card featured a middleweight title fight between champion Luke Rockhold and Keith Jardine, won by Rockhold with a first-round TKO. Robbie Lawler beat Adlan Amagov in the co-main event. And former light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal beat Tyron Woodley with a TKO, but tested positive for a banned performance-enhancing drug after the fight.

Strikeforce’s next show will be March 3 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
