Season 9 TUF winner has June fight scheduled with Cub Swanson

Ross Pearson, the Season 9 lightweight winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” was arrested early Sunday morning in Las Vegas for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The news comes from, which confirmed the news with Las Vegas law enforcement officials. According to TMZ, Pearson was pulled over by police around 4 a.m. Sunday morning after his car was observed swerving. TMZ reports that police issued a field sobriety test to Pearson, and after completing it he was arrested on suspicion of DUI. TMZ also reports that the fighter was later released.

Pearson has not yet commented on the incident, though he has been active on his Twitter account since the arrest took place.

Pearson, from England, is in Las Vegas helping Dominick Cruz with coaching duties on the current season of “The Ultimate Fighter LIVE.”

After dropping two of three at 155 pounds, including a split decision loss to Edson Barboza at UFC 134 last August, Pearson (13-5, 5-2 UFC) had a successful entry into the featherweight division with a unanimous decision victory over Junior Assuncao at UFC 141. While at lightweight, the Brit’s wins were against the likes of Aaron Riley, Dennis Siver and Spencer Fisher – some of the UFC’s most battle-tested veterans.

He is scheduled for his next test at 145 pounds against Cub Swanson on June 22 in Atlantic City, N.J., for UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida.
