Stann out of UFC on FOX 4 main event

HeavyMMA.com has learned that Brian Stann has been forced to withdraw from his fight with Hector Lombard at “UFC on FOX 4” due to a shoulder injury.

The middleweight contest would have served as the main event of the evening, and a replacement has yet to be named.

Stann last appeared at “UFC on FUEL TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva,” earning a technical knockout victory over Alessio Sakara. The win was his fourth in five contests, though the lone loss during that streak, a submission defeat against Chael Sonnen last October, hindered his title run momentarily.

Meanwhile, Lombard finds himself without an opponent in his UFC debut. The former Bellator middleweight champion reached an agreement with the UFC this April and was immediately tossed into a contenders bout.

The acclaimed striker enters the promotion on a 20-fight winning streak, having not lost since  November of 2006. He last fought at Bellator 58, earning a technical knockout win over Trevor Prangley.

“UFC on FOX 4” is set for August 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. HeavyMMA.com will provide more information on the card as information becomes available.
