Davis welcomes Prada this August
A light heavyweight contest between Phil Davis and Wagner Prado has been announced for “UFC on FOX 4.”
The Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed the bout today.
Davis was originally set to face Chad Griggs at the event, but an injury forced the Strikeforce veteran out of the contest.
Instead, Davis now welcomes Prado to the UFC for the Brazilian’s debut. Prado enters the promotion after earning a vicious knockout win under the Max Fight banner last May.
The newcomer immediately is thrown into the division’s shark tank against contender Phil Davis, who looks for a victory after his last fight ended in a unanimous decision loss to Rashad Evans at “UFC on FOX 2.” The loss ended his perfect 9-0 run as a professional.
“UFC on FOX 4” is official for Los Angeles’ Staples Center on August 4. The card will be headlined by a main event between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera.
