Middleweight contenders agree to meet in Brazil
A high profile middleweight contest is in the works for UFC 153, as Alan Belcher and Vitor Belfort have made verbal commitments to meet in Brazil this October.
Sources close to the fighters confirmed with MMAjunkie.com that each had agreed on the match up.
UFC 153 is set for October 13 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Erik Koch will serve as the event’s headliner.
Belfort last competed in January at UFC 142, submitting Anthony Johnson in the opening round of their contest. Prior to that dominant display, he decimated Yoshihiro Akiyama with a vicious knockout at UFC 133.
Meanwhile, Belcher has displayed dominance of his own since returning from an eye injury that threatened his career. In his last four contests, he has earned stoppage victories, including in his latest outing against Rousimar Palhares.
