Magalhaes returns to UFC

Vinny Magalhaes is returning to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Tatame.com was first to report the news, stating that the submission ace is expected to fight in September.

Magalhaes has competed twice under the UFC banner, but has yet to earn his first Octagon win. He was defeated by Ryan Bader in “The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale,” finishing second in the tournament, and then went on to lose to Eliot Marshall at UFC 97.

The second loss triggered his release from the promotion.

Since receiving his walking papers, Magalhaes has been impressive, winning seven of his last eight contests. He last competed under M-1 Global, winning, then defending, the light heavyweight title.

However, he and the promotion had a major fallout, prompting Magalhaes to put his belt for sale on Ebay. Reports surfaced that the belt was selling for close to six-figures, but the item was removed from the site before bidding was completed.
