Ellenberger, Hieron meet in September
A welterweight tilt between Jay Hieron and Jake Ellenberger is official for UFC 151.
The promotion announced the news today.
The match up should come as no surprise, as rumors began circulating yesterday that the match up was in the works and nearly complete.
Hieron currently finds himself on an 11-1 tear in the division, competing in Bellator, Strikeforce, and smaller promotions. He last fought in the UFC seven years ago, losing to Jonathan Goulet.
Meanwhile, Ellenberger recently had a dominant six-fight winning streak stopped by Martin Kampmann at “The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale.” After a dominant first round, Ellenberger was finished in the early second due to knees.
UFC 151 takes place on September 1 in Las Vegas and features a light heavyweight title bout between champion Jon Jones and top contender Dan Henderson.
