Silva vs. Bonnar set for UFC 153
A light heavyweight tilt between Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar is expected to take place at UFC 153.
USA Today Sports first confirmed the bout with sources close to the promotion.
The light heavyweight contest will headline the event after an injury to Jose Aldo forced the cancelation of the original main event. Aldo was preparing to face Frankie Edgar.
Silva last competed at UFC 148, defeating rival Chael Sonnen via technical knockout to defend his middleweight title. Following the victory, it appeared as though Silva had no interest in fighting again in 2012.
Meanwhile, Bonnar is on a three fight winning streak, including a win over Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 139. However, he has not fought in almost over a year.
UFC 153 takes place on October 13 in Rio de Janeiro.
