Guida leaves lightweight division
UFC lightweight contender Clay Guida is a lightweight no more.
The entertaining fan-favorite is making the drop from 155 lbs. down to the featherweight limit of 145 lbs.
His representatives at VFD Sports Marketing announced the news, while MMAjunkie.com confirmed with one representative that “The Carpenter” will return in 2013.
Guida’s decision to change weight class comes during a two-fight losing streak in the lightweight division, though those losses came against Benson Henderson and Gray Maynard.
Prior to the pair of losses, he won four straight and was closing in on a title shot.
