The card takes place on November 17 in Montreal.
UFC officials announced the match up.
Ring last competed at UFC 149, earning a victory over Court McGee by way of decision. Prior to that victory, he was defeated by Tim Boetsch at UFC 135.
Meanwhile, Philippou has won four straight fights. He last competed at UFC 148, earning a unanimous decision victory over Riki Fukuda.
