The preliminary card is in the books, and the main card of “UFC on FOX 4” is up next.

Featuring a main event between Brandon Vera and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, the card kicks off at 8 p.m. ET from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and HeavyMMA has you covered.

The fourth installment of the “UFC on FOX” series also features a co-main event between Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader.

The most impressive winner out of those two light heavyweight tilts will earn a title shot against the winner of Jon Jones vs. Dan Henderson, which takes place on September 1 in Las Vegas.

Mike Swick vs. DaMarques Johnson
Round 1: Touch of gloves, and we are underway. Swick lunges forward with a right. He lands a big right, and Johnson is a bit dazed. Clinch, but  Swick breaks away after a Johnson elbow. Johnson misses with a combination. Just one minute down and already some good action. Knee from Swick, but Johnson uses it to get a takedown. He’s on top now. Elbow from Johnson. Swick has guard. Body shot from Johnson. And a few more. Swick pushes away and is up. He lands a nice right. Big shots from both fighters. Swick hurts Johnson. Johnson is hurt. He throws back and lands. Clinch up against the cage. Johnson with another takedown, and he is working for the back. He has full mount. Just under two minutes to go in the frame. Big left from Johnson. Swick is looking to escape, but having a hard time and eating several shots. Scramble, and Swick gets into half guard. D’Arce choke from Johnson. It looks deep. He lets it go, but grabs on again. And he lets go again. Full guard for Swick now. 10 seconds to go. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Johnson.

Round 2: Nothing much happening early. Much slower than the first. Leg kick from Johnson. Swick catches it and lands. Johnson is on his back. Big shots from Swick. This fight is over. Great finish.

Jamie Varner vs. Joe Lauzon
Round 1: Touch of gloves to start. Lauzon stalking. Varner misses with a combination. He lands a jab to the body. Kick from Varner. Big right from Varner, and Lauzon backs up. Lauzon comes back and lands. Big knee from Varner, but it is blocked. Varner with a combination, but Lauzon with a shot to the body. He rushes forward in the clinch, but Varner pushes away. Varner with a nice shot, but Lauzon pushes forward. He eats a big shot. Lauzon is on his back. He works arm bar, but Varner breaks free. Knee from Varner. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Varner.

Round 2: Varner lands a leg kick, and follows up with another. Varner throws, but Lauzon covers up. Kick from Varner almost trips Lauzon. The Boston native looks for a takedown, but Varner drops down for guillotine. Lauzon moves to the back after escaping. He looks for the choke, but Varner stands and separates. They begin striking again. Big exchange here. Lauzon rushing forward. They are swinging. Varner drops, and Lauzon continues to land heavy. Varner gets back to his feet. He tries to trip Lauzon, but gets reversed. Lauzon on top. He has the back, but moves to mount. Arm triangle from Lauzon. It’s deep. Varner escapes. Lauzon looks armbar, but slips off, and Varner lands as the round closes. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Lauzon.

Round 3: Hug at the start of the round. Timeout. Varner didn’t have his mouthpiece, but does now. Lauzon shoots for a takedown, but gets stuffed. Varner comes back with a takedown of his own. Lauzon sweeps and gets back to the feet. Varner with punches, but Lauzon covers up. Varner comes back with a takedown. Lauzon reverses and grabs the triangle choke. This is deep. Varner is in trouble. This fight is over. Lauzon forces a tap. Great fight. Great heart from both athletes.

Lyoto Machida vs. Ryan Bader
Round 1: Bader misses with a leg kick. Machida with a shot to the body. Not much action going on here. Left kick to the body. Bader tries to close the distance, but Machida lands a knee. Another front kick to the body. Bader misses on an elbow, and Machida scores. Front kick again. Bader finally ties up, but they separate almost immediately. Very little action in round one. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Machida.

Round 2: Leg kick from Machida. Bader misses with a kick. Nothing much going on here again. Bader rushes forward with a punch. Machida counters with a huge right. Bader crashes to the ground. Machida with a few more punches. This is over. Hard to imagine a more impressive performance tonight.

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Brandon Vera
Round 1: No touch of gloves. The fighters trade, and Vera lands a kick. Rua with a takedown early. The Brazilian looks to move to side control and he gets it. Vera rolls to a sitting position. Rua with a big knee, but Vera works his way back up. He fires off a pair of kicks before clinching Rua against the cage. Guillotine choke from Vera. It looks deep, but Rua escapes. He lands several elbows from the top, but Vera is defending nicely. “Shogun” transitions to the back, and Vera is in trouble. 30 seconds to go in the round. Vera with punches from back mount. Vera with an elbow. He will survive, but lose, the opening round. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Rua.

Round 2: Big exchange early in the round. Rua lands. He comes forward. Big strike from Rua has Vera in all kinds of trouble. Vera up against the cage. Rua lands a few more huge shots. Vera eats a knee, but fires back and lands an elbow. Vera with a counter combination. Rua misses with a leg kick. Nice combo from Vera, finishing with a kick. He is turning it up. Huge counter left from Vera, but Rua comes back with a shot of his own. Knees from “Shogun.” Vera drops to a knee, and Rua takes his back. Vera gets back up, but he is bleeding. Big kick from Vera. Nice right follows. This is a war. Rua lands and they fall into the clinch. Vera pressing Rua up against the cage. Vera with a trip and he is on top. One minute to go in the round. 10 seconds to go, and Vera with some nice shots. He is fired up. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Vera.

Round 3: Brief exchange and Rua looks for the takedown, but it simply leads to the clinch. Knees from Rua. Vera breaks away. Nice combination from the underdog, followed by a kick. They clinch again, and Vera falls to his knees. Big punches from Rua, but Vera gets back to his feet. Vera with a head kick. He fires more shots. He comes forward, but Rua trips him down. Tremendous back-and-forth. Vera can’t get up, and Rua is making him pay. Heavy.com scores the round 10-9 for Rua.

Round 4: Vera with a kick to the body. Rua looks for a takedown up against the cage, but Vera is giving him trouble. Big knees from “Shogun.” Vera is staying up on his feet, and they finally separate. Vera with a couple elbows, but Rua lands a nice uppercut. They are caught in the clinch. They finally separate. Rua with a huge couple of uppercuts. He lands a combination, and Vera drops to the ground. More punches from Rua, and this fight is finished. Terrific showing from both men. Very impressive.
