UFC On FUEL TV 5 Main Card Results: Struve, Hardy Earn Victories

Stefan Struve

Main card results from Nottingham

The heavyweights clashed in Nottingham, England at “UFC on FUEL TV 5” this weekend, but it was the underdog Stefan Struve, not favorite Stipe Miocic, who walked away victorious.

Miocic put together a solid first round, utilizing his striking nicely, while avoiding any issue with the reach of Struve. The second round was a different story, as Struve was the one to get off the better shots. Shortly after the round’s midpoint, Struve and Miocic exchanged, and Struve was the one to do the most damage.

With the 4:00 mark approaching fast, Struve tagged Miocic with several vicious shots, and the referee stepped in to save Miocic, who was out on his feet, from any further strikes.

In the evening’s co-main event, hometown fighter Dan Hardy did not disappoint, earning a unanimous decision win over Amir Sadollah after a slow start.

Sadollah had a strong first round – two of the judges gave him that round on the scorecard – and worked his striking against Hardy from the opening bell.

The second round did not go as planned for the former “Ultimate Fighter” winner. Hardy began to work his striking and counterpunching, along with his wrestling. By the end of the third round, he had landed several big shots, including elbows that sliced up Sadollah during the co-main event contest.

Hardy walked away from the bout with a unanimous decision nod from the judges, and it seems as though the lengthy losing streak from the past few years seems far in the past as “The Outlaw” has won two straight.
