UFC heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry will officially meet in the co-main event of “UFC on Versus 4” this Summer.
UFC officials announced the news earlier today.
Kongo is coming off a disappointing draw against Travis Browne at UFC 120 last year, which was caused by a point deduction to Kongo for continually grabbing the shorts of his opponent. He has won just once in his last three contests, while he was dominated by Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez in two of those fights.
Unlike his fellow heavyweight, Barry enters this contest after redeeming a submission loss to Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at UFC 115 with a decision victory over Joey Beltran at “UFC Fight for the Troops II.” Prior to those two contests, he earned the Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night bonus against Antoni Hardonk at UFC 104.
“UFC on Versus 4” is set for June 26 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and features a welterweight contest between former middleweight top contender Nate Marquardt and dynamic athlete Anthony Johnson.
