MacDonald Returns vs. Mills At UFC 145

MacDonald, Mills face off at UFC 145

A welterweight bout between the fast-rising Rory MacDonald and Che Mills is likely for UFC 145.

MacDonald confirmed the match up on “UFC Central.”

The event will take place in MacDonald’s home country of Canada at Montreal’s Bell Centre on March 24, and the 170 lb. contest is the first to be rumored for the event.

Quickly rising up into a short list of contenders, MacDonald has exploded onto the scene with dominant victories over Nate Diaz and Mike Pyle at UFC 129 and UFC 133, respectively. Prior to that fight, he was defeated for the first time in his career by Carlos Condit at UFC 115. The fight was not a complete loss, however, as MacDonald dominated the vast majority of the first two and one-half rounds before Condit earned the technical knockout with just seven seconds left in one of the better comebacks of 2010.

He was originally set to meet Brian Ebersole at UFC 140, but was forced out of the contest due to an undisclosed injury. While Ebersole believed that the UFC would possibly look to resurrect the match up, the longtime veteran told HeavyMMA.com before last weekend’s event that he didn’t think it made much sense after MacDonald “quit” and pulled out of the expected bout.

Meanwhile, Mills debuted in the UFC with a bang, earning a technical knockout victory over Chris Cope at UFC 138 this past November. The victory was the British fighter’s fifth in a row.
