‘Green Mile’ Actor Michael Clarke Duncan Has Heart Attack 3 Years After Going Vegetarian

Michael Clarke Duncan, known for his work in “Sin City” and “Green Mile,” has been hospitalized for a cardiac arrest three years after becoming a vegetarian.

His girlfriend, Omarosa Stallworth, discovered him struggling at 2 a.m. today, TMZ reports:

Duncan’s heart rate is now stable and Omarosa is by his side. Doctors are performing tests to figure out why the actor’s heart stopped in the first place.

The 54-year-old actor cancelled his Omaha Steaks subscription and gave away $5,000 in meat from his refrigerator when he became a vegetarian in 2009, according to a video he made for PETA in May.

He tells PETA he ate a lot of meat but “had a lot of illnesses, too.” Going veggie supposedly helped the 6-foot-4 mountain of a man lose 35 pounds, but the lifestyle change either came too late or was ineffective. He missed out on three years of steaks and his heart still stopped this morning.
