‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ Ushers in a New Leatherface Terror

When The Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out in 1974, it cemented its place into horror history as one of the most gruesome horror films to date. Like the Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity and others to follow, it played on the notion of being actual footage that was uncovered by the film crew. Nothing creepier than watching a slasher film with the idea that it actually happened.

Then we had the reboot in 2003 with Jessica Biel. Yes, we got to see Jessica Biel in a tank top, but scare-wise… been there, seen that. Then we got The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning with a less hot Jessica Biel roll filled by Jordana Brewster. This update gave us some back story into the origin of Leatherface and the teens he killed as part of his upbringing.

So here we are again, another Chainsaw flick with new hot teens who need killing, but what’s to separate this film from the previous ones? Well, its cashing in on the ever-waning trend of 3D. The trailer doesn’t give us the hint we’re going to get anything new, maybe just a couple of extra winces when that chainsaw goes into 3D mode. Then again, some standard scares aren’t always a bad thing.

Look for Leatherface to start slashing again in January 2013.
