Almost Half of Americans Think Obama’s A Christian — Not Too Shabby

A new survey finds that just 49 percent of Americans think Obama is a Christian. That’s actually up from 38 percent in 2010 — hooray for Obama’s crack PR team! — but down from 55 percent in 2008.

Obama should take all the money he’s paying his media people and dump it down a hole and urinate on it and set it on fire for all the good it’s doing. Or hire on a team of blowhard radio hosts — people who know how to sway the minds of the masses.

Anyway, the latest findings of Pew Research Center’s Forum on Religion & Public Life and the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press show 17 percent believe the president is Muslim, while 31 percent don’t have a clue.

Of those who believe the president is Muslim, 65 percent were “uncomfortable” with it.

Conservative Republicans were more than twice as likely in 2012 versus 2008 to say Obama is a Muslim — 34 percent to 16 percent.

Meanwhile, the survey found that 60 percent of Americans know Mitt Romney is Mormon, and 80 percent of that group said they’re cool with his Mormonism or it doesn’t matter.

Overall, 66 percent said religion is losing influence on American life. Among that group, 49 percent (vs. 53% in 2010) said that’s a bad thing and 12 percent (vs. 10% in 2010) were happy to kick religion in the ass on its way out the door.
