An American stole the pistol of a security guard of an Eilat Hotel in Israel on Friday and fatally shot a kitchen worker before being gunned down himself by the police. The gunman has not yet been identified, but he is believed to be a tourist who might have worked at the hotel, the Leonardo Club.
The man grabbed the pistol from the security guard around 9:30 a.m. and fired several bullets into the crowd before making his way into the kitchen. He locked himself in the kitchen until 10:15 a.m. when police showed up and killed him after opening fire again.
It is not yet known what the motive behind the attack was, but it seems to be more of a workplace related violence rather than a terrorist attack. The hotel was at full capacity during the incident, which took place during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
