Apple Finally Fires Scapegoat Blamed for Apple Maps Disaster

The man responsible for the Apple Maps disaster that plagued the launch of the iPhone 5 has finally been canned by Apple.

Bloomberg reports that newly installed Senior VP Eddy Cue has fired mapping team manager Richard Williamson.

When Apple rolled out the iPhone 5 in September, it shunned Google maps and provided its own maps app that misplaced landmarks, melted buildings and highways and generally provided absurdly insufficient and/or inaccurate information.

CEO Tim Cook even apologized for giving customers such a steaming pile of turd.

Williamson’s termination may have provided more satisfaction to shafted customers had Apple axed its scapegoat at the time of the outcry. But Bloomberg’s sources say the firing shows Apple “seeking to win back the trust of users.”

As of this afternoon, Williamson’s LinkedIn profile hadn’t caught up to his firing:
