The Brooklyn Nets announced today that head-coach Avery Johnson has been fired by the organization.
Things haven’t exactly gone completely to plan for the Brooklyn Nets. Their first season in the new Barclay’s Center started well, including a victory over the Knicks, but since things have turned sour.
Understandably many Nets fans will be confused and angry at the hasty decision, none more so than Johnson’s teenage namesake son, Avery Junior, who took to Twitter to chew out the Nets management.
This is a fuxking Outrage. My dad is a great coach, he just got coach of the month and they Fire him. #Smh. Completely new team he had.

The expectations were way to high for this team. We didn’t even have a losing record…. Didn’t even give my dad a full season. #OUTRAGE

I’m sorry are best players couldn’t make open shots. Yeah that’s my dads fault totally…

Elsewhere, King James wasn’t too impressed either:
Avery got fired? He was just coach of the month wasn’t he? That’s like a player get Player of the Month then gets traded the next month #NBA

Johnson was NBA Coach of the Month for October and November, but the team appeared to be on a dangerous slide, and the Christmas day defeat to the Celtics didn’t help.
Earlier in the season Deron Williams had complained about Johnson’s system, something Avery seemed to just laugh off. But some are blaming Williams for his role in the firing.
Rude awakening coming for Deron Williams. Always played in tiny markets, now he’s an overpaid, underachieving coach-killer in NYC? Yikes.

In the meantime, USA Today reports that the Nets will be coached by choking victim P.J Carlesimo in the interim, beginning Friday with a game at home against the Bobcats. A game I could win as coach.
