Jacintha Saldanha Critized Hospital Staff in Suicide Notes

Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse that was found hanged in her London apartment after receiving a prank phone call by Australian DJs, left three suicide notes, one of which criticized the hospital staff where she worked. Saldanha answered and put through a call from Mel Greig and Michael Christian pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles in order to get confidential information on Kate Middleton’s health, who was at the time checked into the King Edward VII hospital for severe morning sickness.

Detective Chief Inspector James Harman addressed the investigation.

“On Friday 7 December Jacintha Saldanha was found by colleagues and a member of security staff. At this time there are no suspicious circumstances apparent to me in relation to this death. A number of notes were recovered. Two notes were at the scene and a further note was found in the deceased’s belongings. Three notes in total.”

One note addresses the hoax and Aussie DJs at 2Day FM, another details funeral requests and the third addresses her employers at the hospital. Authorities are also investigating a number of relevant e-mails and telephone calls made by the nurse in the days before her death. Further details have not been given.

A spokeswoman for the hospital said that senior management does not know what the contents of the note were.

Two memorial services for the nurse will be held, one in her home town of Bristol on Friday and a mass will be held in the chapel at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday.
