Prison Guard Impregnated by ‘Retarded’ Cop-Killing Inmate to Help Him Dodge Death Penalty: Charges

Prison Guard Sex Scandal

Nancy Gonzalez, a federal prison officer for the Bureau of Corrections, was arrested Tuesday morning at her Long Island home for trying to conceal a sexual affair with a cop-killing prisoner she was guarding at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Gonzalez reportedly told friends she’s eight months pregnant with the child of the prisoner, who has previously claimed he is retarded in a motion to avoid the death penalty — but apparently switched to a get-the-guard pregnant strategy to keep himself alive.

Prosecutors allege the inmate and guard had sexual encounters in which “the sole purpose was to impregnate her,” reports the Daily News.

Gonzalez, whose boyfriend is also incarcerated (in a separate jail), is charged with engaging in sexual relations with an inmate and faces a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted.

Gonzalez, 29, allegedly had sex with Ronnell Wilson, an inmate who was convicted after gunning down two undercover NYPD detectives in Staten Island. NBC 4 reported that court papers allege Gonzalez admitted to her incarcerated boyfriend about the relationship and her pregnancy over the phone:

I took a chance because I was so vulnerable and wanted to be loved and now I am carrying his child. I know what is going to be said about me. I know that for me as a parent, how am I going to explain this to this little boy? … Mommy got wrapped up … And then the opposite end is with a person who took lives. So how do you explain that?

Wilson was sentenced to death in December 2006 after a federal jury found him guilty of killing NYPD detectives Rodney Andrew and James Nemorin in March 2003. The shootings took place during an undercover gun buy-and bust operation on Staten Island.

The death sentence for Wilson was overturned by an appeals court in 2010. He is now waiting behind bars for a “penalty-phase trial,” which will decide if he’s executed by lethal injection or if he will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Michael Palladino, president of the Detectives Endowment Association, spoke to The New York Daily News and felt that Wilson had an ulterior motive for impregnating Nancy Gonzalez:

If this was done by design, it’s not the actions of a person who is mentally retarded. It’s a devious plot to avoid the death penalty.
