13-month-old Antonio West was shot and killed while his mother walked him in his stroller.

Two Georgia teens have been arrested for the fatal shooting of a 13-month-old baby as they tried to rob the infant’s mother while on a walk near her home in Brunswick. Here’s what you need to know about the senseless killing.

1. Sherry West Was Walking Her 13-Month-Old Son in a Stroller

Sherry West was walking her 13-month-old son, Antonio, in a stroller near her Brunswick, Georgia home on Thursday when she was approached by two teenagers, De’Marquise Elkins, 17, and a 14-year-old accomplice, reports The Washington Post. The 14-year-old’s name has not been released because of his age. West described the pair as a tall, skinny teenager and a smaller boy.

2. The Two Teens Tried to Rob Her
West said that one of the teens demanded money from her, but she told them that she didn’t have any.

“He asked me for money and I said I didn’t have it,” West said. “When you have a baby, you spend all your money on babies. They’re expensive.”

But the boy didn’t believe her and kept demanding money, threatening to kill her son.

“He kept asking and I just said ‘I don’t have it.’ And he said, ‘Do you want me to kill your baby?’ And I said, ‘No, don’t kill my baby!’”

One of the teens fired the gun, a bullet grazing West’s ear and another striking her in the leg above her knee. He then went over to the stroller and shot the baby in the face. When West began screaming, the boys fled.

3. They Were Arrested Friday

Since the shooting, 30 different leads were reported to the Brunswick Police Department and the Glynn County Police Department. Police found the teens when they went door to door searching for them. Elkins and his accomplice were arrested on Friday for the fatal shooting of the baby.

4. Elkins Was Charged as an Adult
Under Georgia law, Elkins is consdered an adult and was charged as such for first-degree murder. The 14-year-old was also charged with first-degree murder.

5. West Also Lost Her 18-Year-Old Son in a Stabbing in 2008
This is not the first time West lost a child. Her 18-year-old son Shaun Glassey was stabbed to death in 2008 when he and a group of boys were going to ambush another kid. The kid wrestled with Glassey and he ended up getting stabbed himself.
