Canada’s candidate for ‘dumbest criminal ever’ was arrested Tuesday afternoon, after returning to the bank he had just attempted to rob.

The 39-year-old man entered a downtown Victoria bank early that morning, and told the teller he was attempting a robbery. Apparently insecure in his chosen vocation, he then asked her for feedback on how the robbery was going.

When she remained silent – and made no move to hand over the cash – he quickly fled the scene.

He was apprehended by police just a couple of hours later, when the same teller spotted him peering in the window as police conducted their investigation.

The peeping tom was compared with images on the bank’s security cameras of the would-be thief, and promptly arrested.
