Trenton City Councilwoman Kathy McBride found out the hard way what the “Blue Waffle Disease” really is.

“Blue Waffle Disease” is one of the most popular internet hoaxes about a horrific sexually-transmitted disease that only affects women and presenting a quick search on Google of the term is one of the best ways to gross out your friends.

But not everyone is in on the joke. According to The Trentonian, Trenton Councilwoman Kathy McBride received a call from someone who was concerned about the Blue Waffle epidemic and instead of doing a quick search on the term, which would have saved her from much embarrassment, she asked the caller to quickly brief her on the disease.

“A caller asked me, ‘What was the City of Trenton doing about an epidemic that’s called the Blue Waffle Disease?’” McBride said. “I did not have a clue of what that was.”

Falling prey to the notorious joke, McBride presented the hoaxer’s information at a City Council meeting Tuesday night!

“It is a disease that’s already claimed 85 lives and it is a case here in the City of Trenton,” McBride explained. “Blue Waffle Disease is supposed to be a virus that is 10 times greater at this point than the AIDS virus.”

The councilwoman found out the hard way about the true nature of the fake disease and said she was just “inquiring in reference to one of my constituents.” Fortunately, her spokesperson, Dan Toto, said McBride has a good sense of humor.
