DC police confirms to CNN that a female has been arrested in connection with the vandalism at the National Cathedral today.

A woman has been arrested by police in relation to the vandalism that occurred at the Washington National Cathedral’s Bethlehem chapel today, reports The Associated Press.
Smears of green paint were found in the cathedral, and later a similar substance was discovered smeared on a statue of Smithsonian’s First Secretary Joseph Henry, five miles from the cathedral. This comes after the Lincoln Memorial was vandalized with similar green paint on July 26.

Later on Monday more paint was found on a statue dedicated to reformation-founder Martin Luther at Thomas Circle in D.C., less than two miles from the Cathedral, reports NBC Washington.

According to The Associated Press, the woman was found in close proximity to the cathedral. NBC Washington says that she had paint on her hands and was loud but did not resist arrest.

The cleaning work is reported to be simple and the National Cathedral has reopened this evening.
