Erwin Schrödinger, the renowned physicist, has his birthday celebrated today by a Google Doodle. Not only does it make reference to his special day but also to his famous Cat Paradox (sometimes referred to as the “Schrödinger equation”).
Simply put, it was Schrödinger’s contention that if you put a cat in a steel box with poison and a radioactive source, after an hour the cat has a 50 percent chance of being alive or dead.
But since we can’t see the cat the feline is in a state of being both alive and dead, according to the principles of quantum mechanics.
