1. Carnan Killed His Mother

Police say 29-year-old Ryan Carnan of Simi Valley, California murdered his own mother by shooting her with a gun and setting her house on fire, reports the Ventura County Star. After killing his mother around 5 p.m. on Saturday, Carnan admitted the crime to his brother, who then frantically called the police. The woman’s charred remains were found inside the home.


2. He Went on a Shooting Spree on His Tractor

After his Carnan’s body was found, police started receiving calls that an armed man was driving through the neighborhood on a tractor, shooting bystanders at random. He reportedly shot at several residents in the area, but no one else was injured.

3. Police Fatally Shot Him


According to a press released, responding officers fatally shot Carnan in the Bridle Path area of Simi Valley when they “were confronted with a deadly force situation.”

“Based on the information that was being received by the 911 callers that a subject was actively shooting a firearm in a residential neighborhood, the heroic actions of the officers involved cannot be understated,” the press release stated.
