Horse Breaks Free on Manhattan Street, Hits Car, Strikes Blow For Animal Freedom

A spooked horse broke free from the driver of its carriage on a busy midtown Manhattan street, reports The Daily News.

The incident happened at around 10 a.m. when the horse got spooked on West 57th street for some reason, it bolted from beside the sidewalk. The filly hit a car before becoming trapped under its on carriage, it was freed by a group of good Samaritans. No one was hurt during the event, police questioned the driver, Frank Lou, but determined he was not a fault for the freak out.

Lou told DNA Info:

He broke the whole front of the carriage and the fifth wheel. The harness trapped the back legs and he stopped. I didn’t do anything wrong. I did my job well. If I had gotten scared and jumped out [of the carriage], it would’ve been ten times worse.

The horse is also reported to be in good condition.
