Westboro Baptist Church Vows to Fly to South Africa to Picket Mandela’s Funeral

The Westboro Baptist Church has really done it this time. Just minutes after South African President Jacob Zuma announced the tragic news of the death Nelson Mandela, the “church” took to Twitter to promise that its members would picket his funeral. The “church” pointed out that there is no ban on Westboro in the Rainbow Nation.

A state funeral is likely for Mandela in Johannesburg and the chances that the “church” would get anywhere near it is unlikely. Not to mention the fact that Madiba’s millions and millions of supporters would not take too kindly to their presence.

The “church,” which has made its name in protesting the funerals of victims of tragedies — somehow relating the deaths to acceptance of homosexuality in society — has proven time and again that no tragedy is safe from the group’s vile opinions.
