Franklin Castano, Boston Murder Suspect: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Police in Lynn, Massachusetts, have arrested 43-year-old Franklin Castano for the murder of his girlfriend, who was 20 years his junior. Solanlly Paulino, 23, was found dead in her apartment in Peabody, Massachusetts, after Castano told authorities about the incident.

1. Yesterday He Turned Himself in to Police

Police say that Castano showed up at the Lynn police station on the morning of Thursday, February 20, and told them that he had killed his girlfriend in her apartment at 50 Keys Drive in Peabody, Massachusetts, which you can see above.

2. Castano Has a Long Criminal History of Beating Women, Including Paulino

According to the Boston Globe, Castano has been arrested at least three times in connection with assaulting women, two of which were with Paulino.

In 2010, he was arrested after Paulino told police he hit her and cut her hands with broken glass. Because he was also cut in the scuffle, both were charged but were eventually dismissed. In 2012, He was arrested after allegedly attacking Paulino with a butcher knife and a machete.

The Globe also uncovered that Castano was arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife at a Wendy’s. The charges on that incident were eventually dismissed.

3. They’ve Been Dating for Five Years

According to friends of Paulino, she met Castano four or five years ago at a club, and they’ve been in a rocky relationship since they met. They also said that Castano was jealous, possessive, and would not allow Paulino to break up with him.

4. Her Family Warned Her About Castano

A number of news outlets are reporting that family members of Paulino had warned her on multiple occasions and over the past few years. Paulino’s aunt told the Globe, “I told her something like this might happen. I never liked him. I told her that.”

Castano’s relatives, on the other hand, told NECN that he was a good man and a father of three.
