Kentucky Derby Horses 2014: The Photos You Need to See

Vinceremos

Vinceremos has Todd Pletcher as a trainer, much like a few other horses from the derby this year. Jockey Joe Rocco Jr. will be riding Vinceremos and the horse is owned by WinStar Farm LLC and Twin Creeks Racing. The Kentucky Derby describes the horse's background as: Vinceremos descends from a male line rich in recent Kentucky Derby history. While his great-grandsire Unbridled won the Run for the Roses in 1990, his grandsire Empire Maker (2003) and sire Pioneerof the Nile (2009) were each runner-up in the Kentucky Derby ... Vinceremos comes from a sprint-oriented family. His dam, Kettle's Sister, was unplaced in her two outings, both at six furlongs. She is a half-sister to Grade 3-placed sprinter Cognac Kisses, and as her name implies, she is also a half-sister to Grade 3-placed Kettle One. Although Kettle One won over as far as 1 1/8 miles on turf, he was by 1993 Belmont Stakes winner Colonial Affair, who added considerable stamina to his pedigree.
