Steve Wojciechowski has become the new head coach of Marquette’s basketball team, reports ESPN. Wojciechowski has been at Duke in some capacity for 20 years.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. He’s a Duke Institution

Wojciechowski, 37, played at Duke in the late 90s before becoming a member of Mike Krzyzewski’s staff in 1999. Eventually he moved up to assistant coach in 2008. He was a sociology major.

2. He Replaces Buzz Williams

His predecessor at Marquette, Buzz Williams, led Marquette to March Madness in five out of his six seasons with the college. Williams left Marquette after failing to make March Madness and is now head coach at Virginia Tech.

3. To Get the Job He Beat Out Coaches From UCLA & Tennessee

Wojciechowski beat out other favorites, Tennessee’s Cuonzo Martin and UCLA coach Ben Howland for the job. All three had met with Marquette officials about the job, according to CBS Sports.

4. He Was a High School Basketball All-American

Wojciechowski is a native of Severna Park, Maryland, where he attended Cardinal Gibbons School in Baltimore. In 1994, he played in the McDonald’s All-American team.

5. He’s Married With 2 Sons

Wojciechowski is married to Lindsay Alder, who is from Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they have two sons, Jack and Charlie. The family live in Durham, North Carolina.
