A prominent businessman and his family are dead after police discovered four dead bodies at their home in Mission Viejo, California, reports OC Weekly. Mark Sheer lived with his wife, Lydia, their teenage daughter, Amy, and college-age son, Michael, at 25601 Pacific Hills Drive. On May 27, police were called to their home by a relative to perform a welfare check. Inside the home, police discovered four dead bodies. Homicide detectives believe the four dead people were the victims of a murder/suicide. It was reported two days after the tragedy that police believe Michael Sheer killed his parents and sister before committing suicide.

1. Sheer Was as a Motivational Speaker
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mark Sheer is a “tactical coach.” His page reads:
Mark Sheer is a tactical sales coach and consultant helping financials-services companies recruit quality sales professionals and increase the sales of financial services products including life insurance, annuities, LTC and DI.
It also says on his LinkedIn that Mark Sheer hosts “Mark Sheer Seminars.” These talks are for insurance carriers, retailers and financial advisors. He says:

2. He Was a Church Volunteer in His Spare Time
His family has been described by a neighbor as the “perfect Christian family,” reports The Los Angeles Times. The neighbor added that the family regularly attended the Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Mission Viejo. The Orange County Register said that Sheer is also a active in his local church teaches bible study at Mount of Olives. Senior pastor at the church, John Steward, told KTLA:
We’re just as shocked as everyone else. From our observation they were very caring and loving…and they supported each other.
3. A Neighbor Heard Loud Crying Coming From the Home on the Morning of the Tragedy
Another neighbor, Anila Whitney-Miller, told the Orange County Register that she heard “awful crying” coming from the house on the morning of May 28. Whitney-Miller added that the crying was so loud she thought it was coming from inside her own home.
4. The Sheer Family Kept Their Christmas Decorations Up Until February
The Sheer family was hugely popular in the neighborhood thanks to their outrageous Christmas decorations that they put on their lawn every year, according to the OC Register. A neighbor told the Los Angeles Times that when she was in the family’s home on Valentine’s Day, the they still had their Christmas tree up.
The paper added that the family would often have neighborhood children over to play in their backyard. On his LinkedIn page, Sheer writes that he and his family enjoy vacations together. Sheer adds that his children are dedicated to helping the less-fortunate in their community.
5. Until Recently, Mark Sheer’s Amy Sheer Was Home-Schooled
The Los Angeles Times reports that Mark Sheer’s 15-year-old daughter had been home-schooled up until this fall when she was enrolled in a private school. A neighbor described the daughter as a “bundle of joy.”
