Greg Oden Arrested: NBA Player Charged With Battery

Greg Oden, the NBA bench-warmer famously taken before superstar Kevin Durant in the 2007 NBA Draft, was arrested on battery charges early Thursday morning in Indianapolis, multiple local media outlets are reporting.

WTHR TV reports that Oden was taken into custody about 5 a.m. and booked on preliminary charges of battery with injury and battery.

The station reports that Oden is accused of punching a female victim in the face. A witness reported seeing “blood, swelling to the nose, lacerations to the forehead and nose area” of the victim’s face, the station reported.

Oden, who led Ohio State to the 2007 national championship game in his only year in college, averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game last year for the Heat. He’s now a free agent.
