Intrastate rivals Baylor and SMU square off in a rare Sunday night college game to open the season. It will be the first game at McLane Stadium, thew new stadium on Baylor’s campus in Waco, Texas.

Baylor is coming off an 11-2 season that included a Big 12 championship and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, which ended in a 52-42 loss to Central Florida. The Bears are ranked 10th in the country in both preseason polls. Senior quarterback Bryce Petty threw for 4,340 yards and 33 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions last year.
SMU went 5-7 last year and finished 4-4 in their first year in the American Athletic Conference. The Mustangs played well in their season finale: a 17-13 loss to 15th-ranked Central Florida.

The Bears are vastly superior on both sides of the ball, and McLane will be rocking from start to finish. But this line is more suited for a game involving an FCS team than it is one against a relatively formidable opponent. We like Baylor to win big, but the Mustangs to find a way to cover.
