The boyfriend of the chief of staff to New York City’s first lady is a convicted killer. According to a DNA Info, Hassaun McFarlan is the longterm boyfriend of Rachel Noerdlinger, chief of staff to Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s wife Chirlane McCray. In addition to being a convicted killer, he’s also an interstate drug trafficker, and in 2013, he nearly hit a New Jersey cop while driving Noerdlinger’s car.

1. McFarlan & Noerdlinger Have Lived Together Since 2010

McFarlan and Noerdlinger have been dating since 2010 and the two have lived together since 2012, says the DNA Info report. In total, he’s got five arrests to his name, two of which occurred while he was dating Noerdlinger.
2. He’s No Fan of the Police

Since McFarlan and Noerdlinger have been dating, McFarlan ranted on Facebook about police, saying, “I can’t come outside without the pigs f*cking with me in the hood. DNA Info says that they contacted the mayor’s office about the comments. Mayor De Blasio’s office said it backed Noerdlinger but didn’t support hateful comments about cops. The same DNA Info report says that McFarlan was raised by a single mother in Harlem and his father was a drug dealer who tried to pull his son into a life of crime.
3. When He Was 15, He Killed a Man

In January 1993, a 15-year-old McFarlan shot 18-year-old Kenneth Carter dead in Harlem. The shooting was said to have been over a jacket. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported at the time that McFarlan went on the run until December 1993 when he was found and arrested in Cliffside, New Jersey. He served over six years in prison for manslaughter and was released in December 2000.
4. He’s Also Done Time for Drug Trafficking
The Standard Times in Massachusetts reported in 2003 that McFarlan was found in an apartment in New Bedford, Massachusetts, with cocaine and “supplies for making crack.” He did time until 2007 for drug trafficking. Since then he’s got minor arrests, such as convictions in 2009 and 2011 for driving with a suspended license. Then in November 2013, McFarlan was fined by police for evading a New Jersey cop who had ordered him to stop. At the time he was driving Noerdlinger’s car. During the evasion, McFarlan nearly ran over cop Tim Farrell.
5. Noerdlinger Allegedly Fought for Her Relationship With McFarlan

In 2010, the New York Post reported that Noerdlinger, 39, then a media strategist for the Rev. Al Sharpton, was involved in a brawl with McFarlan’s ex. The fight allegedly happened at McFarlan’s Bronx apartment and involved his ex-girlfriend, Myasia Layne, 20. A police source told the Post:
There was pushing and shoving, and [Layne] fell to the ground. There was cursing back and forth — ‘You’re a bitch.’ ‘You’re a ho’ — all that nonsense. Rachel was the primary aggressor … It was a cheesy catfight.
Noerding called the charges “grossly distorted.” The case was later quashed.
