WATCH: Jonathan Papelbon Finishes Phillies’ No-Hitter

Cole Hamels came out of Monday’s game against the Braves after throwing 6 no-hit innings, but the bullpen carried the Phillies the rest of the way through, and Jonathan Papelbon finished the combined no-no with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Hamels walked five and struck out 7 in 6 innings. Jake Diekman pitched a 1-2-3 7th and Ken Giles struck out the side in the 8th before handing it off to Papelbon.

The Phillies’ last no-hitter came when Roy Halliday threw one in the 2010 playoffs. The Mariners threw baseball’s last combined no-hitter in 2012.
