A man in Philadelphia has been charged with attempted murder in connection to the stabbing of Nicki Minaj’s tour manager. New Yorker De’Von Pickett was killed in Philly on February 18 after a bar fight over a woman. The suspect has been named as 31-year-old Pierce Boykin.

1. Boykin Hasn’t Been Charged With Murder, Yet
He’s being charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and related offenses, reports CBS Philadelphia. Police are still searching for two other suspects in the case. Police say that the charges could be increased to homicide, pending further investigation.
2. Two Members of Nicki Minaj’s Entourage Were Stabbed During the Incident
The stabbing happened inside of the Che Bar & Grill along Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia. Chief inspector Scott Small said in the aftermath of the attack, “We believe that both of the victims, as well as the perpetrator, were all inside of this bar and that’s when the argument started.” That day Small told the media that the suspect had been driving a gray Buick Le Sabre. Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark said, ” Both of the parties both knew a female who worked at the bar, and the arguments centered around her.” Another member of Minaj’s entourage, Eric Parker, was stabbed during the incident, he was critically injured.
3. Pickett Was in Philadelphia Planning Minaj’s Tour
TMZ reported that the stabbing happened when Pickett was in Philly making preparations for Nicki’s tour with rapper and Minaj’s boyfriend Meek Mill, a native of Philadelphia. Minaj tweeted on February 18 that “Two members of my team were stabbed last night in Philly. One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour.”
4. Eric Parker & One of His Attackers Were Dating the Same Woman
NBC Philadelphia reports that the woman at the center of the fight had been dating both Eric Parker and one of his and Pickett’s attackers. As the bar closed, Pickett and Parker waited outside for the bartender, as did Boykin and friends. Police believe this is when Pickett was killed.
5. Pickett’s Last Tweet Told the World to ‘Be Great’
De’Von Pickett’s last tweet came just hours before his death, it read, “Be Great.” His cousin is Brooklyn NAACP President L. Joy Williams, who frequently appears on MSNBC. She’s been tweeting about his death saying “He touched so many lives, so loved and our family will miss him so dearly.”
