Beneath the Ink — No Deal, but Growing After ‘Shark Tank’: Interview With the Owner

Beneath the Ink entered the Shark Tank in Season 6. Back then, we interviewed co-founder and CEO Sherisse Hawkins about her company that enhances eBooks in a fun and interesting way. Now that their episode is re-airing, we caught up with Hawkins to see how the company is faring. Although they did not get a deal, which Hawkins said was a great opportunity the Sharks missed out on, they have hired more staff and have big plans for the future.

An Exciting, New Project

We have hired three new people and have two new books coming out. Including ‘Poet Anderson…of Nightmares’ by rock star and celebrity Tom DeLonge, the lead singer and creative genius behind the bands Blink 182 and Angels and Airwaves. The enhanced version featuring over 100 Binks will be released in October and is available for pre-order now. It was an amazing experience to work on this project and it is unlike anything readers have ever seen before.

Launching a Product the Day Their ‘Shark Tank’ Episode Aired

Our biggest area of growth is actually not in the traditional publishing space but corporate marketing and training. Our new product Pagedip which still features Binks was launched the same day Shark Tank aired and we now offer Beneath the Ink Webbook format too – perfect for people who want to reach their readers directly. It’s not only secure it’s beautiful, meets readers wherever they are and of course can support plenty of our amazing Binks.

Future Plans

To have 1 billion Binks delighting people around the globe by 2020. Oh, and we’ll still be the first to incorporate holograms as soon as that’s possible!
