Google Logo History: The 20 Best Google Doodles

Since 1998, Google has exercised its creative muscles with their famous Doodles. On September 1 2015, the company unveiled its new logo to the usual fanfare and such. Part of this fanfare was generated through one of Google's Doodles. A nice animation first shows the old logo, and then a hand appears and wipes it out, making way for the new one. The doodle was first introduced in 1998 when Google wanted its users to know that their staff were heading off to Burning Man, just in case there were any server problems.

The doodle has evolved since then to animation and games. They're used to celebrate national holidays, political events and amazing human endeavor. Some appear in hundreds of countries, some are isolated to just one. Google seems to spare no expense in celebrating the national day of Ukraine or the tomato festival. Anybody can suggest an idea for a doodle, just email proposals@google.com.
