A 60-year-old Louisiana man is accused of gunning down three men after getting into a fight at a party Saturday night, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said.

Rodney Chemin fatally shot himself after killing the three men, Joseph Allen, 57; Mark Allen, 51; and Perry Allen, 51, who are brothers, the New Orleans Advocate reports.

1. The Men Were at a Friend’s House Watching the LSU Football Game

Rodney Chemin, and the three Allen brothers were at a home near Chemin’s house watching the LSU football game against Mississippi State Saturday night, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the New Orleans Advocate, the shooting happened after a party held at the home of Dwayne Crumholt, who is Chemin’s cousin and friend.


2. An Argument Over Music Turned Physical, Police Said

The four men got into a physical argument after fighting verbally about music being played at the party, according to WAFB-TV.


3. The Men Left the Party & Several Gunshots Were Heard Moments Later

Chemin left the party at about 12:30 a.m. and the three Allen brothers followed him, the sheriff’s office told KPLC-TV. About 10 minutes later, a friend heard several shots and went to check on the men.


4. Chemin Shot the 3 Men in His Driveway Before Killing Himself, Police Say

Police said Chemin shot the three men dead on the rural private road leading up to his home, before turning the gun on himself.

“It’s just unbelievable something like this took place,” Kendall Gerald told KPLC-TV. “A friend of mine was texting me wondering what was going on and we said we hadn’t heard anything about it. We thought it might have been something on the highway up there on the edge of the road.”

Friends said they were shocked to hear about what happened, saying Chemin had a warm heart.

“It just doesn’t make sense. Totally out of character for something like this to happen,” neighbor Suzanne Wheeler told KPLC-TV. “He cared about everybody. He would never hurt anybody. He was a good guy, real nice, always helpful.”
