One person has been stabbed and another shot at Titusville Airport in central Florida. The suspect fled the scene into nearby woods, reports WESH. The incident happened along Permitter Road which is considered part of the airport facility.

2. The airport is also known as Space Coast Regional Airport and is the closest commercial airport to the Kennedy Space Center. WKMG’s Erik Sandoval reports that the airport has been closed until further notice and that the airspace in the surrounding area is also closed.


3. A police dog was also wounded in a stabbing in the attack.


4. The world’s largest civilian helicopter school, Bristow Academy, run by Bristow Helicopters, operates out of the airport. It employs 150 people at the facility.


5. In 2010, the airport was in the news when a pilot hit a deer after takeoff, damaging the landing gear of his plane.
