A former resident of the Islamic State terrorist capital Raqqa told The Sunday Times that the women-only group the Al-Khansaa Brigade stole the baby then murdered the mom for “indecency.” According to The Sunday Times, which was relayed the story by Syrian refugee “Aisha”:
Ducking under the shade of a tree, [the mother] had tucked the child under her black burqa to shield him from public view. But the furtive act of motherhood was spotted by a member of the Al-Khansaa Brigade, the Isis-controlled city’s women-only guardians of public purity, who mercilessly meted out a horrible punishment.
Breastfeeding in public is against the law in the Islamic State. An Al-Khansaa Brigade member gave the baby away to another female jihadi, then mutilated and killed the mother. According to Syria Direct, the Al-Khansaa Brigade was formed “in early 2014 and charged with policing the public morality of women in A-Raqqa city.”
Australia News reports that the group is mostly made up of “women from North Africa, Gulf Arabs, Iraqis, Chechens, and western Europeans” and that “up to 60 British women are thought to have joined the psychotic group.”
Al-Khansaa Brigade branches have also popped up in Mosul, Iraq. See rare photos of them here.
