A 49-year-old British politician has been suspended by his party after he texted a 17-year-old girl asking her if she wanted a “spanking.” That was just one of the messages that Labour member of parliament Simon Danczuk sent to Sophena Houlihan. It all began when she applied for an internship with him. In response to the scandal, the Labour Party suspended Danczuk pending a full investigation. Just a few days before the texts emerged, Danczuk’s former girlfriend Claire Hamilton announced she had split from the MP saying he “had it coming.”

1. In One Exchange, Danczuk Told Houlihan That He Was ‘Horny’ & That She Wouldn’t Believe How ‘Hard’ He Was

The text messages were first reported in an expose by The Sun where Houlihan showed the texts that Danczuk sent her. She told The Sun, “When I first got in touch I never expected the messages to get so graphic. At the time I played along with it, but now I feel like he duped me. I was keen for a career in politics and he is a very high-profile MP and I was in awe of him.”

She first contacted him in July 2015. Houlihan says, “I enjoyed the attention. There is something about him that I was attracted to.” When she told Danczuk that she was 17, he replied “Good for you.” The father-of-two also asked Houlihan to come to Spain with him after she sent him a revealing photo.

In response to the scandal, Danczuk wrote on Twitter that, “My behavior was inappropriate and I apologize unreservedly to everyone I’ve let down. I was stupid and there’s no fool like an old fool.” He also referred to The Sun’s story as “not entirely accurate.”

According to her now-deleted Twitter page (you can view a cached version here), her interests are “ART/POETRY/MUSIC.” On December 6, she wrote on her Twitter, “This time last year i was out getting twisted every weekend till 7 in the morning. Now i sit at home write lyrics and drink coffee.” While another message made reference to her dislike of youth members of the Conservative Party.”


3. Danczuk Previously Wrote a Book About Child Sex Abuse That Included References to Young Boys Being Spanked

In 2014, Danczuk gained a high profile after he published a book Smile for the Camera: The Double Life of Cyril Smith. He detailed the sordid story of deceased politician Cyril Smith who was a confirmed by pedophile but had never been properly investigated or charged. Smith came from Danczuk’s hometown of Rochdale, close to the city of Manchester. One of the acts that Smith is accused of doing is forcing you boys to lay down while Smith spanked them.”

Houlihan has a profile at Casting Call Pro. On it, Houlihan says she is “mixed race” and can do a range of English readings. Professionally, she is interested in comedy, commercials and film. She studied two years of acting at Rochdale Hopwood Hall College. Speaking to Rochdale Online, local politician Andy Kelly said, “I have a 17-year-old daughter and I cannot put into words what I would feel or do if she was being groomed by a man of almost 50.”


5. Danczuk Split From His Wife in July 2015

In July 2015, Danczuk admitted that he separated from his politician wife Karen, who is known in the English media a selfie queen. Since then, he’d been involved with another politician from his local area, Claire Hamilton. The now-disgraced Danczuk also has two children from a marriage which ended in 2010.
