Today was the big drawing for the $1.5 billion Powerball. The winning numbers for tonight were 8-27-34-4-19 and a Powerball of 10. It also looks like there were three winners, one each from California, Tennessee, and Florida. (Read more here.) But even if the jackpot is gone, the excitement isn’t over. Being a millionaire would still be OK!

How long do you have to buy a ticket (or five or ten) before the next drawing?

The next drawing is going to take place on Saturday night, January 16. To win, you must get all six numbers correct. The first five can match the numbers that are drawn in any order, but the last one must match the Powerball number.

That means you have until Saturday night to get your ticket. Each ticket costs $2. You can typically buy a ticket at almost any convenience store/gas station or grocery store.

In most states, sales close an hour before the drawing, which takes place at 10:59 pm Eastern time. However, some states may cut off sales sooner than that, so ask your state lottery office for a specific time. Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, as well as Washington, D.C., the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Powerball ticket drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday night.
