Although Houston is beginning to dry out on Saturday, flood warnings still remain active in many areas as creeks and rivers rise and seven shelters are still open. Several people tragically lost their lives during the flooding, including a young man who posted a photo on Facebook of his truck being submerged in water before he disappeared.
Flooding in Houston, Texas from the last couple days passed the water levels from even last month's epic flood. Spring Creek at FM 2978 had already passed last month's levels on Friday afternoon. The flooding would pass the 100-year flood level and the 500-year flood level if it rose more. Meanwhile, Little Cypress Creek at Beckner Road's sensor showed it already surpassed the 500-year level as of Friday night, although it was not as high as the mid-April levels. And the Spring Creek gauge at Hegar Road was at the 500-year level late Thursday night before it broke, a Houstonian on Reddit commented.
