YouTube star and The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie was shot and killed by a man after performing with the band Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida late last night. Who is the suspect?
The name of the suspect has not been released, but according to Redditor starstarstar42, the local news is reporting that it was “someone known to her family.” We are currently looking for a clip to verify.
Prior to her tragic death, USA Today reports that Grimmie was signing autographs when a man walked up and shot her. ABC’s WFTV 9 reports that Grimmie’s brother, Mark, was able to tackle the shooter, who then successfully turned the gun on himself.
The Mirror reports that Grimmie is believed to have been shot twice in the head.
Fans mourned on social media, with comparisons being drawn between Grimmie and Selena on Reddit, a Tejano singer who was murdered in 1995 at the age of 23.
