Donald Trump’s speech at the Faith and Freedom Conference on Friday came to a halt when protesters began to shout, “Stop Trump, stop hate!”
At least three people were removed from the area by security. In response to the protesters, Trump supporters began chanting “USA! USA!” to drown them out.
Trump himself was mostly silent during the ordeal, saying that they have freedom of speech. But afterwards, he said that it’s “so sad” what’s happening in the country, saying that everyone has become so divided.
During Trump’s speech, the Republican presidential candidate discussed issues of religious freedom, saying he will respect the sanctity of life while in office. He also said that nobody should be judged based on their race or religion, possibly an intentional pivot away from the remarks against Judge Gonzalo Curiel he has been so widely criticized for.
